Now that the whirlwind of Christmas and New Year’s Eve is over, how about taking some time to chill out and just breathe? A 45 minute drive could find you sitting under the shade of the weeping fig trees on the verandah of the historic Crown Hotel in Dayboro. These beautiful fig trees were planted in 1923 by the then publican’s wife, Mrs Herbert, to provide shade for horses tied to the hitching rails of the pub. What a bonus that 92 years later, we humans are enjoying the shade from these magnificent old trees!
